Reinterpreting ethnic textiles is a passion of mine. These gorgeous Karen pillows from Thailand are from traditional blouses hand-woven on back-strap looms, most of these wooden looms that weave these fabrics have been adapted by local and regional ethnic villagers rather than faithful reproductions. These blouses are worn by married women only and are as unique as they are colorful. Each woman has her own style of embroidery and preference for job's tear seed appliqué, pom-pom's and other embellishments.
