These Turkish shag rugs (Tulu)
are hand knotted using curly goat hair on a wool kilim like carpet. I
love how shiny the hair is, and how vibrant the colors are. Originally
because of the long soft hair they were used as mattresses or blankets
for warmth. Today, however, like many old crafts their availability is
dwindling which makes these timeless treasures more precious.
