Over time the batik sarong fabric becomes extremely soft and the dyes are muted and aged to perfection. We have made this new collection of pillows from these marvelous vintage sarongs. The wax resist was applied with a copper stamp called a cap. Most of these Indonesian batik sarongs are from the Yogyakarta or Solo region of central Java. The patterns have a long tradition of usage and meaning and are considered one of the royal arts supported by the courts of the sultans of this region. Deconstructed vintage Javanese sarongs are beauty reincarnate as exquisite batik pillows.
