African Spider Stool - Bamileke People

This wonderful carved African stool, created by the Bamileke of Cameroon was carved from a single piece of wood with intricate patterns representing the web of the earth spider, a symbol of wisdom. The Bamileke people believe the web of the earth spider is also a link between this world and that of our ancestors; carving the web into these pieces allows departed loved ones to be connected. This vintage stool has signs of wear showing a few nicks and scratches, all of which add to its beauty.
