Buddhist Bronze Altar Bowl

This intricate bowl features designs of Burmese folklore and inscriptions with a beautiful patina. Its style is consistent with that of Buddhist monks' alms bowls. In addition to its monastic use for collecting alms it became a symbol of the Buddha's teaching of non attachment. It seems likely that this ornate bowl was made to be given as a gift to be used on an altar and meant to hold water and flowers. Vintage and one of a kind this piece is 30-70 years old.
