Burmese Lacquer Bowl No. 9

The Burmese are known for their handmade lacquer pieces. This bowl of coiled bamboo has a flared rim typical of the mid twentieth century wares of Ava, where it was made. The original paper stamp remains on the bowl. The interior is lacquered red, and the exterior is painted with decorative bands of floral swags and bird scrolling. It is vintage and in excellent condition.
