Burmese Temple Painting No. 1

This is one of those remarkable finds that crosses my path every so often during my travels. This fantastic Buddhist temple painting is from Burma and are seen on the sides of temples in Burma and often are painted on both sides with scenes from Buddhist legends and local tales. These paintings are hung as devotional objects on the walls of the temple to illustrate various aspects of Buddhist scripture or legend. Painted on tin with a tempera-like paint, this is a vivid example of Burmese folk artistry and are quite rare.
