Ikat Textile No. 2

This Kutnu hand-woven Ikat textile is from Gaziantep. This weaving technique is traditional in this part of Turkey. They have been creatively adorned with Oya, a centuries old lace technique which uses a tiny straight needle to make even tinier loops and knots and as the knots are tightened the stitches also grow smaller. They are each one of a kind and the lace trim may differ from one to another.
