Krobo Necklace No. 4

Old bottle glass, windshields and any other type of glass available is powdered in a steel mortar and pestle. Forms made from clay from old termite mounds mixed with sand are used with a wood fired, mud brick oven to make the beads that are strung together to make these precious necklaces from Ghana. The more complex the methods and the more rare the glass colors, the more expensive the piece of jewelry is. Some beads take up to five firings to create one bead.
