Maya Woman's Rebozo No. 2

This classic perraje / rebozo from San Juan Cotzal is a classic example of the elegant style of weaving from this village. These shawls are traditionally worn over the shoulders or folded anyplace on top of the head in Guatemala. Traditional stripes in red and black. The fringe has been intricately braided and knotted, adding a special touch. This vintage shawl is in excellent condition, with little sign of wear. Hand woven on a back strap loom in two cotton panels. Brocade decoration on both ends features typical Cotzal bird designs.
